Branches of Service
Our Mommies Hands offers service to the community through storytelling, using the powers of reflective art, and creative writing sharing our unique life experiences. We are a direct service provider, extending ourselves to various youth communities (middle and high school age), adults, and professionals who service youth. We also offer training opportunities through professional development, team building, retreats, and conference breakout sessions.

Creative Writing-Using The Hands Project (THP), our four tier writer's workshop asks its participants to identify, reflect on, and become responsible for learning how their pasts impact their present and future. Workshop Through Art (Reflective Art Storytelling)-Service Branch Two
Workshop Through Art (WTA) pairs theme specific art based activities with workshop course content, to offer an alternative means of expression and communication through the language and power of art. Each activity will include the use of carefully selected materials accompanied by guided instruction, which will culminate in an art piece. We customize our art-based activities to support pre-existing, long and short term program curricula, and the current emotional climate of the communities we service. Writer's Workshop(Storytelling through Creative Writing)-Service Branch Three
Our writer's workshop supports our participants in remembering the significant people who've shaped their lives by feeling them, writing about them, sharing them, and putting their impact on their lives into written perspective. Reality will reveal itself through reflection and the writing process, for each person according to the individual's own experience, interpretation, and understanding of how these people have impacted their present lives. Participants are supported on this journey through modeling, dialogue, the use of writing prompts, music, and video clips, delivered through a group-based curriculum. The culmination of work will take shape through narrative, memoir, letter, or poem, which will collectively capture the written documentation of the impressions that have been left behind by their significant primary socializers(namely mother and father figures). We look forward to serving your community!
